Wedding 2 Details Assignment (108 of 119)

There are so so many elements that come together to make a wedding memorable and unique to the bride and groom.  Each one has taken thought and time to make happen, and it’s important to preserve the memory of every contributing detail.  The bride and groom will each have their favourites, and so will the family and guests.

A beautiful, heavy envelope coming via post doesn’t happen that often anymore.  And if you love paper and a good party like I do then the arrival of a wedding invitation is always exciting. The opportunity to have beautiful papers put together creatively to establish a colour scheme and a mood is one of my favourite things, and I love to see what the bride and groom are able to imagine and make happen.  This invitation tells me that the event will be elegant and possibly a bit formal, and I’m expecting to see lots of purple.  Yay!  My favourite colour!

What’s one of your favourite details about a wedding?

Wedding Cake

How much do you love a wedding cake?  Is it a highlight of a wedding for you?  Do you even notice it?  Maybe it only matters how it tastes?

Because I have a friend who bakes and has made some wedding cakes, I know that the process involves multiple talents and skills.  Everything from baking and decorating to packaging, storage and transportation.  It’s a long and expensive job.

So when a bride decides that she won’t have a wedding cake and her friend decides to make one as a gift, you know it’s going to be a labour of love.  And that’s exactly how this cake came to be.  With it’s multiple layers and simple but pretty decoration, it suited the style of the wedding perfectly, and was obviously a gift from the heart.

Lucky bride to have such a generous friend, don’t you think?

Talk about a dream job…if you have a ton of creativity and love to travel, you’re willing to work hard and be super-professional.  Krista is all of the above, plus totally down-to-earth and funny too.  I loved hearing her chat about her work during my recent Wedding Photography class.  She specializes in destination weddings and underwater photography, so you can imagine that she had some good stories to tell, both fascinating and hilarious.

This is one of my favourite photos from her blog.  You can see how she really captures the location her couples have chosen for their weddings.  She’s not afraid to be adventurous and unique to get the best photos for her clients. And yet her style is distinctive and flows through all of her work.  It’s no wonder she was voted one of the 30 most inspiring photographers of 2014!

Thanks for taking the time to come and speak with our class Krista.  I learned a lot about creativity and taking risks, but also about work ethic and professionalism.  I’ll be looking out for more of your work for inspiration!
